Jack E. Ansell, MD, FACP, is the Michael S. Bruno, MD Chairman of the Department of Medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York. Dr. Ansell's main areas of research focus on the clinical problems of thrombosis, thrombotic disorders, and antithrombotic therapy. He has had a continued involvement in the application of new modes of delivering and monitoring anticoagulants, particularly in the management of oral anticoagulant therapy.

Dr. Ansell received his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine, Charlottesville. He completed his medical residency at Tufts New England Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts, as well as a fellowship in Hematology at Boston University, and Hematology/Hemostasis at Boston Veterans Administration Hospital.

Dr. Ansell is an internationally recognized expert in the field of hemostasis and thrombosis and is credited with over 200 original research articles, reviews, editorials, and books. He serves as associate editor for the Journal of Thrombosis and Thrombolysis and editorial consultant for The New England Journal of Medicine, Blood, and Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis. Dr. Ansell is the founder and immediate past chair of the Anticoagulation Forum, a network of anticoagulation clinics throughout North America, and is currently chair of the Medical and Scientific Advisory Board of the National Alliance for Thrombosis and Thrombophilia, a patient advocacy group. He also served as Chair of the American College of Chest Physicians Consensus Guidelines committees on the topics of Managing Oral Anticoagulation and The Perioperative Management of Antithrombotic Therapy.
